Prepaid Legal Services, Inc, a publicly traded company (NYSE: PPD) was founded in 1972. The company had revenues of $318 million for the nine months ending September 2009 and paid out $93 million in commissions. Prepaid Legal Services is marketing a line of legal services plans, as well as the Identity Theft Shield service, through Independent Contractors and is presently serving over 1.5 million North American families.
Prepaid Legal Compensation Plan
Under the Prepaid Legal compensation plan, you are paid Personal Sales Advances on your personal sales, and Override Bonus Advances on the sales of distributors in your organization. You can join as a Junior Associate for $49, or a as an Associate for $249.
Prepaid Legal Services is paying commissions as advances for one year worth of commissions. If a customer cancels during the advance period, the company charges you back against future commissions
Personal Sales Advances
The yearly advance depends on your distributor rank. For the $26 family plan, personal advances range from $25 to $ 182.50. The following table shows the advances for all ransk up to Executive Director, and teh corresponding commisison rate.

Advancement in rank is based on personal sales or on recruiting. For example, to advance from Associate to Senior Associate, you need 50 personal sales. Alternatively, with the $49 kit, you advance by recruiting 3 new Junior Associates with membership. With the $249 kit, you advance immediately upon sponsoring one new Associate at $249 plus membership.
Override Bonus Advances
These advances are paid from the originating rank to the next higher rank in the upline. They depend both on the originating rank and the upline rank.

Once you reach one of the Executive Director levels, your group breaks away, and your upline receives break away bonus advances, through up to 6 generations.

The training covers warm market approaches to selling memberships, three-way-calling, recruiting and retention. A major recruiting tool is the Private Business Reception, to present the opportunity to friends and acquaintances.
