PartyLite Company and Products
The PartyLite Company goes back to a business that was founded in 1909 by Mabel Baker as a producer of bayberry candles. By 1965, she had created a $6 million business. In 1973, her company established a subsidiary, PartyLite Gifts, Inc., offering home fragrances and accents through a direct sales model.
In 1990, PartyLite was acquired by Blythe Inc, a publicly traded company (BTH - NYSE). The company has generated $ 650 million in annual sales, with a sales force of more than 42,000 Independent Consultants.
The company is operating in the United States, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Poland, Norway, Austria, Australia, and Mexico.
PartyLite's line of products includes fragrance, candles, home accents, bath & body care, and the Two Sisters Gourmet line of foods and recipes.
PartyLite Compensation Plan
PartyLite is marketing its products by independent Consultants through home shows. You join as a consultant by purchasing a $350 starter kit and holding your first starter show. The kit contains over $350 worth of product, and is free if your starter shows gives $350 in sales. To remain active and qualify for commissions you need to generate $500 in sales per month.
Direct Sales Commissions
Your commission on home show sales is 25%, plus 7% bonus for sales equal to $2,000 and more per month. Thus, for $2000 sales volume per month, your commission will be $500 and the bonus $140, for a total of $640.
Group Sales Commissions
PartyLite leaders who are recruiting other Consultants are also earning from 2% to 7% on the sales of their sponsored Consultants (downline). For example, with 6 consultants in your downline who are each generating $1,000, you Leadership commission is 7% on $6,000 equal to $420.
PartyLite
offers seven Leadership levels, depending on the number of people on
your team, and your overall business activity. To qualify for the
lowest level of unit leader, you need to personally sponsor 4 active
Consultants, and generate $2,000 in sales per month.
Your
minimum income as a unit leader is $640 from your own sales plus 7% on
the sales volume of $2,000 from your downline equal to $140, totaling
$780 per month.
Income Disclosure
PartyLite is not publishing an Income Disclosure for its Consultants. The only figures available are the average and top earnings for each of the 7 leadership levels. It is not disclosed what percentage of consultants are actually reaching any of these levels.
PartyLite Marketing and Training
PartyLite is offering training through a Learning Center at each consultant's web site, training events and through training materials provided by individual Leaders. Training topics are centered on home parties and recruiting, including how to book shows, hostess coaching and the 10-3-2 model. This model is asking you, at each show, to make sales to 10 guests, book 3 new shows and sponsor 2 new leads.
PartyLite Opportunity Review And Summary
With PartyLite marketing focused on home shows, your chances to move outside your local area with your own shows are very limited. If you are a social person and enjoy giving home shows, winning hostesses and coaching them, then this opportunity will work well for you.
Before you join, meet other consultants and ask them about their experiences and average earnings. And if investing $350 in home fragrances and accents is OK with you, just start and see how you are doing. To increase your monthly income beyond part-time level, you will definitely need to sponsor other consultants and train them to be successful.
