Amway Company and Business
Amway Global, previously known as Amway Inc. and Quixtar, is privately
owned by Alticor Corporation, and is the exclusive distributor in North
America of Alticor's products, including the Nutrilite nutritional
supplements. In 2007, the company generated over $1 billion in revenues
for the fifth consecutive year. Presently, Amway is the largest
online retailer for health and beauty products.

Amway Global is marketing nutritional supplements, skiBV of n and personal care products, air and water purifiers and a line of home cleaning products
The Amway core products are the Nutrilite brand of organic vitamins and supplements, the Artistry line of facial skin care and color cosmetics, the Satinique line of hair care products, Tolsom Skin Care for Men and the "Legacy of Clean" line of home cleaning products.
Amway Marketing
Amway is
marketing its products through
Independent Business Owners (IBO). IBOs are trained to use person to
person referrals. Customers can order products online with their
referring IBOs number, and have the products shipped directly from the
company. This relieves the IBO of the need for stocking inventory.
Amway Compensation Plan
Amway IBOs are receiving revenue
in four ways:
- Retail revenue
- Monthly performance bonus
- Leadership bonuses
- Cash awards
Retail revenue is generated by selling products at retail to customers. The average retail profit for the core products is about 29% of wholesale cost or 22% of retail value.
The monthly performance
bonus is calculated as a percentage of the total business volume in the
group. The percentage increases from 3% to 25% with increasing volume.
The net payout to you as an IBO is equal to your total group bonus
minus the group bonuses to your downline.
This
encourages you to do two things:
- Have a high personal volume
- Have a wide organization with many directly sponsored members that each produce much less volume than the total group.
The

Amway Training
Amway Global is offering training through Amway Global University, now called The Learning Center. Topics include getting started, selling products, and growing your business.
Additional
training is offered by Amway leaders. In the past, Amway was involved
in court litigation and government action because some Amway leaders
had been pushing their own training materials at inflated prices on
their downline members. At present, the company emphasizes in its
brochures that the purchase of upline Business Support Materials is
optional.
Amway Home Business Review
Amway is promoting on its websites and in its brochures three simple steps to success: Learn, Sell, Sponsor.
